1 Habit All Successful Software Teams Have In Common

Most successful software teams share the same handful of things in common:

  • They are technically strong
  • They know how pull requirements out of the business
  • They have regular touch points for improving their craft
  • They are great at communicating their needs

But in software in particular, I have noticed that the most successful teams have this 1 habit in common:

They ask for feedback sooner than mediocre teams

And here's why:

We all know that shorter feedback loops are good. But what is a "short" feedback loop anyway?

Most teams wait until they are comfortable with their work to ask for feedback. Some wait until they think they won't be perceived as annoying. And others wait until they desperately need it.

But successful teams know that the longer they wait, the greater the risk that they're on the wrong track.

And that's why successful software teams ask for feedback early and often.
